You will develop the skills to perform a range of basic mechanical service tasks, work on inboard and outboard boat engines and equipment, and inspect and service engines. You will also learn about marine transmissions, propeller drive and jet drive propulsion systems, electronic and ignition systems and inboard marine hull equipment and instruments. Hands-on training is delivered in our world-class workshops with the latest marine equipment.

Gain entry to the marine mechanical service and repair sector by completing this entry-level course and gaining the practical experience and technical knowledge to work in this industry. If completed as part of an apprenticeship, this course may contribute to a trade qualification.

Vocational placement

Students will be required to complete up to 80 hours work experience prior to the end of the course.

Resources required

Students will need to wear steel capped safety work boots, a long sleeved top and safety glasses.
