Working in the community services and health sector? This skill set will see you equipped and confident to work with and provide support to clients with alcohol and/or drug issues.

Units

The successful achievement of this skill set requires you to complete 4 units in total. You are to enrol in all 4 units upfront, as the units are entwined in delivery to create a more holistic learning experience.

You are not required to enrol in any units you have previously successfully completed.

Selection criteria

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this skill set, to enrol with TAFE Queensland South West you must be meet one of the following requirements:

  • hold a qualification at Certificate III or higher level qualification in Community Services, Health or a related field or;
  • have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process or;
  • have substantial industry experience, on the job training and development along with supervisor assessment of capacity

To enable you to complete this skill set within the specified timeframes, it is recommended that you have completed year 10, or are 16 years of age or above, and that you have sound literacy and numeracy skills.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
