Free apprenticeships for under 25s was introduced by the Queensland Government in 2019. If you are an apprentice or trainee studying a priority qualification, the training fees associated with your study will be covered by the Queensland Government.
Typically, these fees are $1.60 per hour of training at TAFE Queensland.
In most cases employers will pay this fee for their apprentices or trainees. Other times the apprentice or trainee will pay it. If you’re eligible for the free apprenticeships for under 25s program, the Queensland Government will pay this on your behalf.
To be eligible for Free apprenticeships for under 25s, you must be employed in Queensland as an apprentice or trainee under a training contract in one of the priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications on or after 1 July 2019.
TAFE Queensland currently offers a number of qualifications that are eligible under the Queensland Government’s Free apprenticeships for under 25s program.
